Salisbury care home keeps residents engaged through the power of music.
On the 20 June 2018, The Utley Foundation visited Gracewell of Salisbury, a care home which provides high quality, personalised residential care, nursing and dementia care in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
We met with Home Admissions Advisor, Sandra Smith, who gave us a tour of the nursing home and explained that every resident is provided and cared for with his or her individual needs in mind.
Person-centred care plans are put in place before each resident moves in and are reviewed on a regular basis to accommodate any changing needs or preferences. Thanks to our care homes dedicated Activities and Events Coordinator, there’s always something going on. These activities include fitness, music, art classes and so much more.
Music is prevalent everywhere in the nursing home, from classical music playing in the restaurants to a music therapist playing a guitar with a small group of residents in the main lounge. Some residents were singing along, some were tapping their feet in time with the music, but all looked happy, enlivened and engaged with the carers and the people around them.
Keep up the great work Gracewell of Salisbury, you are doing an amazing job!
